Dog Boarding San Diego

Cage and Kennel Free Dog Boarding in San Diego

Your Dog’s Home away from Home Dog Boarding!

We are the best cage free affordable dog boarding home in San Diego California. We use our private in home pet boarding to give your dogs the feel of being in their own home. At our dog boarding home we let them have full privileges to all parts of our house. They are allowed to sit and cuddle with us on our couches and chairs. We also allow them to sleep with us on our bed if that is okay with you. If not they can sleep in our bedroom next to our bed. We give all dogs as much attention as they need. We never leave your dogs alone.
Happy Dog Ranch Boarding is a safe,
comfortable place for your dogs to stay while
you are away. Come over for a tour of our San Diego dog boarding home to ensure that the
environment is right for your dogs. We do not
use cages or dog runs. Dog boarding in cages can cause anxiety for dogs. Most dogs need
more room to move around. If you don’t like the idea of your dog staying in a small cage the
whole time while you are away, look no further. We are a cage free pet boarding home that offers upscale dog boarding in San Diego without having to pay extra for it.
We are a private home dog boarding service and we only take a small number of dogs. We give them constant
attention because of the small number of dogs. We also do not leave them alone at all. We are with your dogs
24 hours a day. The larger commercial pet boarding facilities take in a large number of dogs and your dogs may not get that much attention. Some of the larger San Diego pet boarding facilities leave your dogs alone all night.

Our dog boarding home is a vacation for your dogs. There is always someone with them at all times giving them attention and love. They get to play all the time with us and our other dogs. You do not have to worry about a strange dog sitter in your house. A pet sitter may only visit your house a few times a day. By having your dogs stay with us at our dog boarding home you will not have to worry about your dog or your house.

Your dogs will get plenty of exercise; we go for long daily walks and they get regular play at no extra charge.
Our dog boarding home is fully fenced to keep your dog/s safe. We take your dogs outside most of the day so
your dogs can roam around, sniff, sunbathe, play with the other dogs or do what they want. We are always with your dogs to supervise them at our dog boarding home so you won’t have to worry.

Dog boarding can be stressful for your dog. A change in diet can add to the stress on their body, possibly
resulting in diarrhea or vomiting. The best way to prevent this is for you to bring your dog’s regular food. We do
not charge any extra fees for special diets. We are even raw food diet capable. We can’t stress enough the
importance of feeding your dog their regular food. If your dogs are known not to eat well while boarding, please bring along something that can be added to their food to make it more desirable. Only if its something they are used to having as a treat. We will give you a dog boarding form to fill out giving us instructions on feeding your dogs.

Our dog boarding home is cage and kennel free. We do not  put your dogs in small rooms or leave them outside either. They stay in our home with us and have free range. We only take non aggressive dogs. We are there to supervise the dogs to make sure they interact well with each other and do not get over stimulated.

Our dog boarding home monitors your dogs constantly. We look out for their appetite, water intake, urination and defecation. If your dogs vomits, has diarrhea or any other problems we will make a note and let you know. If your dog becomes very sick or injured we will make a call to you or your emergency contact right away. We have you fill out a dog boarding veterinarian release with your vet’s information so we can go to your veterinarian, if it’s not too far for your dogs medical needs. Otherwise we are close to several veterinarians and an emergency veterinarian hospital.

We only charge a base dog boarding fee per night per dog. We do not base our fee on the size or type of dog
you have. We do not have any hidden costs or add-ons, such as fees to feed your dog a special diet, administer
medications or take your dog for extra walks. If your dogs are chronically ill or need injections you will have to
consider boarding them with a veterinarian.
Try to bring your dogs to our dog boarding home during the day. It is less stressful for dogs to visit a new place while it is light out.

Make reservations well in advance. If you wait too long, our dog boarding home may
be booked. Remember we only take a small number of dogs.

Remember to bring food, leashes and bedding/s if you have it. It’s something familiar and it has the smell of your home and can give your dogs more comfort.

Remember to bring all of the medications that your dogs will need during their stay at our
dog boarding home.  Clearly label all vials, make sure there are enough tablets for the
duration of the stay. Describe feeding and provide clear medicating instructions on our dog boarding forms.

Please do not bring any toys or balls. We have toys and balls at our dog boarding home.
They are neutral and will not cause possessive problems.

Make sure to fill out and bring all the dog boarding forms we give you. Make sure to give us all your contact numbers, plus local emergency contacts in case you cannot be reached.

Quality of life of obese dogs improves when they lose weight

Modoc's Comments:
I think this is great news! The researchers have found that a
dog's life is better when it maintains the proper weight. They
found out not only does it make us healthy but it makes us
happier. We all know a happy dog is a good dog. Being
overweight is not good for us or humans. It is hard on our bodies
and bones.

By Sarah Stamper at the University of Liverpool

Researchers at the University of Liverpool have found that
overweight dogs that lose weight have an improved quality of life
compared to those that don't.

It is estimated that approximately a third of the UK dog population
is obese. Obesity is a serious disease and can lead to many
other health disorders including diabetes, heart disease and
arthritis.

A study of 50 overweight dogs, comprising a mix of breeds and
genders was undertaken by scientists at the University in
collaboration with the University of Glasgow, Royal Canin and the
WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition.  Owners completed a
questionnaire to determine the health-related quality of life of
their dog prior to weight loss. A follow-up questionnaire was
completed by the owners of 30 dogs that successfully completed
the weight loss programme, enabling changes in quality of life to
be assessed. A range of life quality factors were scored, including
vitality, emotional disturbance and pain. The quality of life of dogs
which succeeded with their weight loss programme was also
compared with those dogs that failed to lose weight successfully.

Tail-wagging tutors: New therapy dog reading program is turning
pages

Modoc's Comments:
I love kids and could listen to them read all day long. I think this is
a wonderful program to help kids learn to read. As a dog I don't
care if a kid stumbles on a word or pronounces it incorrectly. I am
just happy to be a part of their experience and making them feel
comfortable. I think this is a great program these libraries offer
and hope it attracts nationwide interest. Dogs are great at all
kinds of therapies. This is such a wonderful idea!!

By Jan Swoope for The Dispatch

"Oh, look! This one is about a gorilla and a kitten," chimed Emma
Tally to her furry companion. The 5-year-old sat cross-legged on
a plump pillow on the library reading room floor. With small
hands, she held up her big book, all the better for her four-
legged friend to see. Turning to the first page, young Emma was
soon eagerly sharing the story with Roscoe, the therapy dog.
Roscoe, to all appearances, absorbed every word.

Patrons at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library Tuesday may
have been surprised to see dogs among the stacks, but it's all
part of an innovative project called "Read to Roscoe and
Sampson." It's also part of a growing nationwide trend of utilizing
dogs in libraries to increase reading skills in children, some of
whom may be reluctant or struggling readers.

Building on Library Director Alice Shands' and Deputy Director
Erin Stringers' desire to explore starting a program in Columbus,
Youth Services Coordinator Lindsey Miller researched similar
initiatives in other libraries.

Remember Menu Foods and ChemNutra?

Modoc's Comments:
This is a great article about the dog food companies that
imported the tainted dog food from China. The author really did
great research and got some really good info. I was lucky enough
for my family to feed me a raw food diet when this all happened. It
seems like the same people are at it again with importing dog
food from China. Please read on.

By Leigh Ann for The Blog Pound

I’m sure many corporate attorneys would like it if we would all just
forget about the Menu Foods/ChemNutra pet-homocide debacle
of 2007, but hey, some of us remember every little thing.  I
wanted to post an update to the situation to let pet owners know
that earlier this year, Menu Foods was sold to an even larger
private-label pet food manufacturer, Simmons Food Inc.
